Leif Nilsson

Director, CEO

Mr. Nilsson currently serves as Chief Executive Officer and director of Surge Copper. He previously served as an independent director of Adventus Mining Corporation, an Ecuador-focused copper-gold exploration and development company, up until its sale in 2024 to Silvercorp Metals for $200 million. In prior years he worked for various Canadian and international investment banks, including Macquarie Group, Stifel Financial, and CIBC World Markets, advising on many high profile global mining M&A and capital markets transactions. Leif holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Physics and Exploration Geophysics from the University of Toronto and a Master in Finance from INSEAD.


Dr. Shane Ebert

Director, President and VP Exploration

Dr. Ebert has 25 years of gold, copper, and base metal exploration experience in North America, South America, Australia, and Europe. Dr. Ebert was involved in the discovery of a large copper deposit in Mexico (Bahuerachi Deposit), a gold deposit in eastern Canada (Viking), and a Cu-Au porphyry on the Ootsa Property (West Seel).  He has extensive experience managing junior exploration companies and is a registered professional geoscientist with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia.


Chantelle Collins

CFO & Corporate Secretary

Ms. Collins, holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants Association of BC (CPA, CGA). Ms. Collins has 10 years' experience working in the public sector and is well versed in the financial reporting requirements of public companies and serves as an officer in one other public Company.


Mark Wheeler

VP Projects

Mr. Wheeler is a Professional Mining Engineer with 17 years of experience in operations and senior project engineering roles. Before joining Surge, Mr. Wheeler spent ten years with Treasury Metals Inc., where he led multiple technical programs including resource estimates, design inputs and project management to advance Treasury’s project from a maiden resource to a PFS level of study, and technical due diligence in support of growth-focused acquisitions. In this role, Mr. Wheeler also led the start to finish completion of a Canadian Federal EA process including all technical aspects, scoping and execution of baseline work, and engagement with multiple Indigenous Nations. Earlier in his career, he held mining engineering roles at Teck's Quebrada Blanca copper mine in Chile, and Barrick's Williams Hemlo gold mine in Ontario. Mr. Wheeler holds a B.Sc. in Mining Engineering from Queen’s University and an MBA from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto.
